Our Direct Primary Care practice is not limited to pilots. In fact, many of our primary care members are not pilots. The name “The Pilot Clinic” reflects our aviation medical expertise, but our Direct Primary Care membership is designed for adults and families seeking accessible, physician-led internal medicine care in Goodyear and the West Valley.
Direct Primary Care offers longer visits, improved physician access, preventive care, chronic disease management, and direct communication with the clinic. For labs and imaging, members may choose transparent cash pricing when available or use insurance directly through the outside lab or imaging facility.
We serve patients and pilots from Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Avondale, Buckeye, Phoenix, Surprise, Glendale, and surrounding West Valley communities.

Dr. Allen is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician, FAA Senior Aviation Medical Examiner, HIMS Aviation Medical Examiner, former U.S. Army flight surgeon, private pilot, and founder of The Pilot Clinic. He is passionate about Direct Primary Care because it addresses many of the frustrations patients experience in traditional primary care, including rushed visits, limited access, insurance barriers, and fragmented follow-up.

Through Direct Primary Care, Dr. Allen focuses on accessible adult internal medicine with longer visits, direct communication, preventive care, chronic disease management, cardiovascular risk reduction, and practical follow-up. He also has a special interest in sports medicine, clinic-based procedures, dermatology procedures, point-of-care ultrasound, men’s health, lipid management, and aviation medicine.

Dr. Allen completed Internal Medicine residency through Creighton University School of Medicine–Phoenix. During residency, he received the Teaching Resident of the Year award and graduated as the Outstanding Senior Resident of the Year. He was also named one of the 100 Best Doctors in Arizona for 2025.

His background in military flight medicine, internal medicine, aviation, and medical practice ownership gives him a practical understanding of the health needs of pilots, professionals, active adults, and patients seeking a more direct and personal primary care model. He is an avid pilot and keeps his Pilatus P3-05 aircraft at Glendale Airport.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Allen enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include hiking, camping, coaching his children’s sports teams, flying, running, and fixing anything broken.
